Industrial Asthma and WorkCover
Industrial asthma is a common condition which arises from exposure to dusts, chemicals and other substances at work. It is possible to claim for industrial asthma even if you had a pre-existing asthma condition, you were a smoker .You may still be entitled to claim if you can establish that work worsened your condition. There are many other lung conditions that may be related to work. These include conditions such as asbestosis, silicosis and pneumonocosis.
If you can establish that there is a higher risk of you suffering from a lung condition in your type of employment then you do not have to prove that it actually came from work. In these circumstances WorkCover has to prove that it did not come from work.
